Late Fall is your last chance to plant wildflowers for spring blooms.  Find a sunny, well drained spot in your yard and sow directly into the soil for best results.  Our expert gardener, Natasha, recommends starting with a local native to ensure germination.

PLANT AN URBAN MEADOW BY SEED

We love a defined, urban meadow here at SOMOS! For meadow grasses by seed, we often choose Purple Three Awn, Little Blue Stem, or Sideoats Grama, or paint drifts of each across the site.

Then we add a bloom for every season, like Bluebonnets or Red Poppies for color in Early Spring,  Antelope Horn for the Monarch butterfly in late Spring, Giant Coneflower for drama in Early Summer, Eryngo for unusual flower arrangements in late Summer, Spider Lilly and School House Lily bulbs for Fall, and Gayfeather for late fall.

In the shade? Try Inland Sea Oats or Weeping Love Grass with Blue Eyed Grass or Columbine (Spring), Golden Groundsel (late Spring), Tropical Sage (Summer), Spreadleaf Aster (Fall).
